How many people do I need on my team?

The boat holds up to 22 people, 20 paddlers, one drummer, and one steer person (steer person is provided). Teams can be any number of people; teams have had any number from 10 to 30. If you have to many paddlers, most teams change the crew each race, and since your best time out of the morning races counts this does not affect your placing in the finals

How are practices organized?

There will be four (4) practice sessions before Race Day, and we highly recommend that each team take advantage of these free practices. The practices help you with tips and technique and to build teamwork and team spirit. It is the captain/co-captains’ responsibility to schedule the dates and times for your team’s preferred time slot and inform the team (remember it’s first come first served). We ask that you show up at the site 30mins before your scheduled practice. It will take 30 minutes to register you for the session, ensure your waiver form is signed, issue you paddles and lifejackets and get you into your boat on time. Refreshments and light snacks will be served on all days.

Where are practices held?

All practice sessions are held at 5527 St. Patrick in Lachine*

What do I need to bring to race day?

Come prepared for the day’s weather. Remember you are at an outdoor event and the event is “Rain or Shine”, so bring the necessary rain gear, including hats, umbrellas, etc. if it is raining. If it is hot and sunny, dress lightly and remember to bring sunscreen, hats, etc. If it is cold, bring warm clothing, etc. Many paddlers get wet while racing, so do remember to bring a change of clothing, especially if the weather is cold and/or rainy. Running shoes may also get wet, so you may prefer to have crocs, flip flops to wear while you are on the boat.

In case of extreme weather lightening, torrential downpour or high winds, tune into Virgin Radio at 95.9 FM the morning of the race for details.

There are some picnic tables with attached seating but not nearly enough to accommodate the 1200-1500 people we expect on Race Day. Bring your own chairs, blankets, towels, etc.

Where will I parking for race day?

On race day the City of Lachine waves the cost of parking around the park, as long as you are parking in metered parking, it will be free in the area of the park.

Are children welcome to attend?

YES, there is a kidz Zone, which will have many activities for children, including face painting and inflatable games.

What is the deadline for donations?
