Practices

There will be two (2) scheduled practice sessions before Race Day, and we highly recommend that each team take advantage of these free practices. The practices help you with tips and technique and to build teamwork and team spirit. Team captain/co captains' schedule the dates and times for your team's preferred time slot. Race Day

Date: Saturday, September 9, 2017

Time: 7 am - 3 pm

Place: Promenade Père Marquette, Lachine

If this is your team's first time participating, please encourage them to come at least one hour early. We absolutely cannot hold up a race due to missing team members. The races will run according to the published schedule.

Come prepared for the day’s weather. Remember the event is 'Rain or Shine', so wear appropriate clothing for the weather, many paddlers get wet while racing, so remember to bring a change of clothing, especially if the weather is cold and/or rainy. In case of extreme weather -  lightening, torrential downpour or high winds - tune into CJAD 800 AM the morning of the Race Day for details.

At the race site, there are several picnic tables but not nearly enough to accommodate the 1200-1500 people we expect on Race Day. Bring your own chairs, blankets, towels, etc.

In the "Paddlers Village" you will be given a 10x10 tent with your team name on it. You are free to decorate your tent however you would like (banners, ribbons, colours, whatever). Upon your arrival, you will find a ‘Volunteer Ambassador’ waiting for you in your tent. This person will act as your "go-to" person for the race and will remain in your tent throughout the day to keep track of all your things while you are on the water. However, the site is a public park, so we suggest you leave all valuables at home. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

All participants will receive the following on Race Day as a thank you for your participation and fundraising efforts:

  • Breakfast (coffee or tea or juice and a bagel with cream cheese)
  • Lunch (sandwich, drink, chips)
  • Fresh fruit
  • Felix & Norton cookies
  • Event t-shirt
  • Drinking water
  •

There are items for purchase on the site throughout the day; hotdogs, beer, soft drinks, juices, coffee, tea, chips, Mr. Felix & Mr. Norton Cookies.
