Dear friends and family,
This year I will be rowing for the first time, taking part in the 16th Annual FL Fuller Landau Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat Race. I’m doing so in celebration of my mother Haiyu Zheng, who has been fighting advanced-stage cancer for the last three years. My goal is to raise $2,000 for her cancer hospital.
She is an incredible woman, who keeps pushing every day with grace and her very own brand of sarcasm, honesty and directness. The funds collected during the Dragon Boat event will go to Cedars CanSupport, which provides free, supportive care to cancer patients like my mother and to their families at the Cedars Cancer Centre of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). Help me give back and show support for this essential cancer service.
Cancer sucks. And life with constant pain is really difficult. Dealing with hospital services in your second language and with hearing loss, during a pandemic and with your daughter in another country, just adds to the difficulty. Fortunately, the staff at the Cedars Cancer Centre has always gone above and beyond to make sure Haiyu is well taken care of and their constant help and positivity have brightened many dark skies for us.
Root for us by supporting the Dragon Boat Race, on September 12, 2021! And come and see if this former elite athlete (recently turned Crossfit addict) still has what it takes to compete. Let’s make the 2021 Dragon Boat Race have a lasting, positive impact.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and generosity.
With my love and gratitude,
