On September 7th, 2019 I will take part in the 12th Annual Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat Race & Festival as a member of "THE DUSTY PADDLES" Dragon Boat team in order to raise awareness and much needed funds for CEDARS CANSUPPORT which is actively involved in helping cancer patients and their families at the McGill University Health Center [MUHC] in Montreal.
Four years ago my son Kevin organized "THE DUSTY PADDLES" Dragon Boat team as a way to help raise funds and give back to Cedars Cansupport who were of great help and support to him and his family during his battle with Germ Cell Cancer and Leukemia. In September 2016 Kevin and his team of family and friends were enthusiastic and successful participants in this fantastic fundraising event.
Unfortunately, Kevin's remission was short lived as he was diagnosed with Leukemia in January 2017 and after courageously enduring several rounds of treatment, passed away on April 20th 2017.
For the last 2 years “The Dusty Paddles” Team rallied together in honour of Kevin and came in second place overall for fundraising and took home the champions cup!
Again this year our family and Kevin's friends are participating in Kevin's memory as well as in the memory of Colleen Dewey who lost her battle to Cancer. Colleen's sons and her husband Earl are members of our Dragon Boat team as well.
Cedars CanSupport played a big part in Kevin's treatments, making it bearable for him and his family to endure his treatments and long periods of time spent in hospital. They also helped Kevin through his recovery and rediagnosis with many types of support.
Please help us raise funds to support this incredible organization. All monies raised go directly to Cedars CanSupport, a division of the Cedars Cancer Foundation which aims to aid patients and their families who are currently undergoing cancer treatment. Cedars CanSupport provides free psychological, emotional, practical and financial support to cancer patients and their families being treated at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC).
We hope you will help to support us and cheer us on at the beautiful Promenade Pére Marquette in Lachine on Saturday, September 7th
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and generosity.
