On April 20th, 2017 my life was forever changed. I lost the strongest, bravest, and most caring person I will ever have the chance of knowing, my loving brother. Kevin was diagnosed with a mediastinal germ cell tumor in October of 2015, he underwent intensive chemotherapy and surgery and was in remission. Tragically his remission was short lived as he was then diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukemia in January 2017. My brother was the example of humility and kindness. He never stopped giving despite his own battles.
In the Spring of 2016 Kevin put together a team of unexperienced paddlers, coining the best team name "THE DUSTY PADDLES" which I was honoured to be a part of, in order to give back to a organization he held so close to his heart. Two years our team came in first place and, more importantly, raised over $15 000 for Cedars CanSupport.
This year our team is coming back to hopefully reclaim the championship title and most importantly, to paddle in Kevin's honour.
On September 7th our team and I will be paddling in order to raise money for Cedar's Cansupport which made such a difference in Kevin and our family's journey with this terrible disease. Please consider making a small donation in order to help those battling this disease and their loved ones. I love you Kev and you will be forever in our hearts, we will never EVER forget you and your generous heart!
All monies raised go directly to Cedars CanSupport, a division of the Cedars Cancer Foundation which aims to aid patients and there families who are currently undergoing cancer treatment. Cedars CanSupport provides free psychological, emotional, practical and financial support to cancer patients and their families being treated at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC).
We hope you will help to support us and cheer us on at the beautiful Promenade Pére Marquette in Lachine on Saturday, September 7th.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and generosity.
