Hi everyone. Below is the standard blurb, but I have some personal reasons for taking part in the Dragon Boat Festival. Almost 30 years ago our mother passed way to ovarian cancer, after a very hard-fought battle. It truly is a horribly cruel disease. The memories were brought back to me first-hand when last December we lost one of my wife Lynda’s best friends, Buffy, after a very similar battle. Buffy had wanted to take part in the Dragon Boat race, but was unable to do so. Lynda and I are going to fulfil her wish, with her husband Dave and her brother Neil.........
On September 8th, 2018 I will be taking part in the 13th Annual Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat Race & Festival to help raise awareness and much needed funds for CanSupport, who provide free, supportive care to cancer patients and their families at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) Cedars Cancer Centre.
Cedars CanSupport is a program at the MUHC, Cedars Cancer Centre. In collaboration with the healthcare team, Cedars CanSupport provides complementary support complimenting conventional treatment, improving the quality of life of cancer patients and their families. CanSupport is comprised of professional staff and trained volunteers all with the shared goal of providing emotional support, education services, complementary therapies and practical resources to cancer patients and their support networks.
We hope you will help to support us and cheer us on at the beautiful Promenade Pére Marquette in Lachine on Saturday, September 8th.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and generosity.
