On September 8th 2018, I will be taking part in the 13th Annual Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat Race & Festival. I am honoured to be participating in this event for my second consecutive year, in order to help raise awareness and much needed funds for cancer patients and their families at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC).
These past couple of years have been very trying as I lost two very imporant people to this terrible disease: my mother, Nancy Kinmond, and my dear friend, Kevin Butterfill. I, therefore, decided to participate in this event in their honour. Last year was a huge success—not only did our team raise over $10,000, but we also won the entire event.
My team and I will be training this summer to improve our synchronization, power strokes, and overall technique so that we will, once again, be victorious on race day in both our racing and fundraising efforts.
All the money raised will go directly to Cedars CanSupport, a division of the Cedars Cancer Foundation which aims to aid patients and their families who are currently undergoing cancer treatment. Cedars CanSupport provides free psychological, emotional, practical and financial support to cancer patients and their families being treated at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC).
We hope you will help to support us and cheer us on at the beautiful Promenade Pére Marquette in Lachine on Saturday, September 8th.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and generosity.
