Welcome to My Personal Page
On September 9th, 2017 I will take part in the Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat Race & Festival in order to help raise awareness and much needed funds for cancer patients and their families at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC). Unfortunately this disease has affected more and more of us, whether it being our family members or ourselves.
In the past 3 years Cancer has SUBSTANTIALLY effected my life. In June of 2015 my Grandfather Antonio lost his decade long fight against Lymphoma. My Grandfather Joao was also diagnosed with cancer that year and he passed away of Liver Cancer in May 2017.
Most devastatingly, my Fiancé Kevin Butterfill was diagnosed with Cancer not once but two times, at the age of 29. Kevin fought and beat a rare form of Testicular Cancer in his chest in 2016. He had the mass removed and was in remission. That joy was short-lived however as Kev was then diagnosed months later with Chemotherapy induced Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Kevin endured several rounds of chemotherapy and fundraised to find his perfect match for a stem cell transplant. Despite finding his perfect match, the Cancer was too aggressive and my hero lost his battle in April 2017 to this terrible disease. During his struggles Kev was constantly looking to help the next person. He always worked to help the people who could not help themselves.
The Cedars was a big part of his treatment, making it bearable for him and our family to make it through his treatments and hospital stays. They also helped him work through his recovery and rediagnosis, providing tools and support. They provide so many amazing services to patients, survivors and their families, and by raising money for this cause we can assist them to help others.
All monies raised go directly to Cedars CanSupport, a division of the Cedars Cancer Institute, which aims to aid patients, and their families who are currently undergoing cancer treatment. Cedars CanSupport provides free psychological, emotional, practical and financial support to cancer patients and their families being treated at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC).
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and generosity.
